Do You have Financial Intelligence?

Have you ever heard of "Financial Intelligence"? You have probably heard of the story whereby 10 people are given a $ 1,000. By the end of the first week 7 people have nothing left, 2 still have a $ 1,000 and the last person has $ 3,000 or more. You see the last person had Financial Intelligence, the rest didn't. The majority of people don't. Financial Intelligence is not a God given talent, it is in all of us. It just takes a little effort to learn the methods the rich employ to get richer.

If your net worth was $ 100,000, and the net worth of your average millionaire was say, $ 2,000,000 is he or she twenty times more intelligent than you? That's 2000%! If you think they are, then how big is Microsoft CEO Bill Gate's brain? The real answer is no they aren't necessarily smarter than you, they have just learned Financial Intelligence before you did.

Financial Intelligence isn't something they teach in schools. Who would teach it? Now I'm not coming down on teachers but why would a teacher with "FI" be teaching when they could be earning 100 times more by using their FI to invest and break out of the 9 to 5 grind. If they loved teaching, they could do so at $ 3,000 per hour giving talks on the seminar circuit. So the result is children don't learn "FI".

Robert Kiyosaki wrote a book, "If you want to be rich and happy, don't go to school". He was quite right. He is also a self made millionaire from property. Schools don't provide the education your children need to succeed in an ever competitive world, they need to be taught, as all of us do Financial Intelligence. It is your job as a parent to learn "FI" for not only your own benefit but so you can pass it on to your children. It will be one of the most important things both and your children will learn.

"Money is the root of all evil", they scream. Those that scream and deplore money are either cranky with the world because they don't have any, or they are cynical people that have never seen the good some people have done with their money, the money they have earned by using their Financial Intelligence. For instance Dick Smith who gives millions of dollars to charities, the late Frank Sinatra who has done more for charities than any other person. Money can do a lot of good and better in your hands than somebody else's, right?

Back to Robert Kiyosaki for a moment. He has also written a book entitled "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". It tells the story of his "two fathers". One his real father, an academic middle class man that had no Financial Intelligence at all, hence Robert and his family always struggled money wise. His other dad, was his best friends' father. He was a more or less uneducated man with Financial Intelligence who was very successful. This is the man that taught Robert the secrets to financial success, not his own well educated father. We hear it all the time, "the street wise person with no education ends up a millionaire". It depends on your education. Spend all your time accumulating more degrees than a hot day and you have no time left to learn that most important of subjects & money.

I have learnt Financial Intelligence from many sources, books, friends, work colleagues and the odd mentor. All these people have contributed to my life and my understanding of wealth and how to create it. I inherited no fortune, was not blessed with a rich family, I just worked hard and kept my ears open and my mouth shut. If you listen carefully enough, it's amazing what you hear.

I have put together my new book "Investing to Win" I compiled The Steps to Financial Intelligence. These steps will teach you what you were never taught in school (well, I certainly wasn't), the way to make money with your intelligence. This isn't a book about budgeting and that sort of thing, that subject has been done to death. This book covers "FI", types of investments and the "tricks of the trade" to making money out of them. Strategies that always work, but most people don't use them. This is a book about making money now, not in 20 years time with a regular savings plan. This is a book that shows you how millionaires ended up that way ..as millionaires.
