Whatever the mainstream media comes up with, the truth of the “War on Terror” is that is just the next “war” in a long line of conflicts that have been waged for thousands of years.
In the middle ages we had the “War on Heresy”, during which thousands of innocent people were killed for being “heretics” – often with no proof of guilt except an admission forced by torture. This war went on for centuries until it was no longer a successful way of controlling the majority.
Last century there was the “War on Drugs”. Under the banner of attacking the spread of illegal drugs, governments worldwide introduced laws restricting our freedoms. Very few drug barons were ever brought to justice, but the innocent majority was successfully controlled by a media campaign that most people believed.
Now we have the “War on Terror”. With it, you can expect to see even more legislation against personal and financial privacy, against the majority – irrespective of how many terrorists are brought to justice, and how real the threat to our daily lives really is. Whether it be ID-Cards, private banking or eavesdropping on our telephone calls and emails, you can be sure we have only seen the tip of the iceberg of anti-terror legislation.
